Genevieve M. Beyers, 74, of Cuba, a toll taker for the Thruway Authority, died Friday (Dec. 24, 1999) in Olean General Hospital.
Born Genevieve Moot in Black Creek, Allegany County, and raised there, she had lived on Grand Island for more than two decades before returning to the Southern Tier in 1990 and making her home in Cuba.
She was employed by the New York State Thruway Authority as a toll taker, mainly on the Grand Island Bridges prior to her retirement.
Mrs. Beyers was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Cuba.
Her husband, William W., died in 1989.
Mrs. Beyers is survived by three sons, Joseph W. of Maquoketa, Iowa, Allen J. of Grand Island and Nicholas A. of Niagara Falls; a daughter, Jean I. of Olean; three brothers, Martin Moot of Hamburg, William Edward Moot and David Moot; and four sisters, Rachel Wiltsey of Hamburg and Mary Koch, Winifred Owens and Justine Weller, all of Black Creek.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 50 South St. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Grand Island.
