Archery

Leo's Archery Range Indoor 3-D League, 25 Pine St., East Aurora, begins at 7 p.m., Jan. 6. The league shoots for 12 weeks. Call 655-3884.

Shooting sports

Franklinville Sporting Clays begins its Winter Skeet and Sporting Clays League on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. For details, call 353-4461.

Allied Sportsmen's Club Informal Pistol League begins Jan. 9 at the club range, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. The 10-week handicap league shoots on either Sunday (10 a.m.-3 p.m.) or Wednesday (7-10 p.m.) and is open to all shooters. Call 937-9708, 937-6467 or 937-6457.

Hiking/nature

Foothills Trail Club Hikes: No hikes will be held until after New Year's Day. The next scheduled event will be a Canadice Lake Ski/Hike, 10 a.m., Jan. 2. Call 768-6167.

Tifft Nature Preserve, 1200 Fuhrmann Blvd., Buffalo, Nature Break Program: Outdoor Trekking and Indoor Fun, an all day program for children ages 7 and older, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., daily, Tuesday through Friday. Call for fees and information about extended care (825-6397).

For fur

The Erie County Trappers Association holds two major events in January. The New York State Trappers Association Region 9 Fur Auction begins with check-ins at 8 a.m. and auction bids starting at 10 a.m. Jan. 8 at Collins Conservation Club on Conger Road in Collins. ECTA returns to the Collins club at 9 a.m. Jan. 23 to present a Fur Handling Seminar. Trappers, current and future, can learn how to properly handle fur for sale and processing. Representatives from Fur Harvesters Auction House in North Bay will teach knife sharpening and hide stretching prior to tanning.
