DEATH OF BUS DRIVER TOUCHES MANY LIVES

An early morning accident on Oct. 26 changed the smiles on many faces to pain and grief. This accident suddenly took the life of Gilbert Rogers Jr., a Metro Bus employee for 31 years. Metro Bus Management and Amalgamated Transit Union left no stone unturned providing support and assistance for his family and co-workers.

Gilbert was dedicated to his job as a bus operator and extra clerk at the Cold Spring Station, as witnessed by the many hours that he put in. He was also dedicated to his passengers. Gilbert was well-respected and very generous and thought nothing of helping anyone in need.

Gilbert will truly be missed. But his spirit, energy and humor will live on in our hearts and at the Cold Spring Station through his adornment of puzzles and the love of his special plant. His dream of hosting an antique car show came to fruition in 1998, when several shows were held at different locations in Buffalo.

This was a time of sadness, but Gilbert would not have wanted it that way. He would have wanted a celebration, and celebrate we did.
