A Mass of Christian Burial for Carl J. Lauria, 49, a sales representative, will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Holy Angels Catholic Church, 348 Porter Ave., after prayers at 8:45 in Amigone Funeral Home, 1132 Delaware Ave. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cheektowaga.
Lauria, of Cheektowaga, died unexpectedly Wednesday (Dec. 22, 1999) while playing horseshoes in Hamburg, a game he played regularly with friends.
He graduated from Bishop Fallon High School in 1968 and Gannon College in 1972. At Gannon, he was honored for his contributions.
With a degree in social sciences, Lauria went to work caring for people with special needs.
His first job was as a social examiner with Erie County in the early 1970s. He then became a case manager from the mid-1970s until 1985 at the former Allentown Industries, where he helped mentally retarded adults.
Since 1985, he worked as a regional sales representative for Boise Cascade Office Products in Buffalo.
His hobbies included boating, playing horseshoes, camping and playing basketball. He also was a drummer.
Survivors include his wife, the former Camille Andreana; his mother, Constance; his father, James of Lake View; and a brother, Alan J. of Anaheim, Calif.
