Anna M. Cantwell, 90, who taught in Catholic schools for more than 50 years, died Tuesday (Dec. 21, 1999) in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst, after a brief illness.
A longtime resident of the Town of Tonawanda, Mrs. Cant-well taught elementary grades for many years in St. Christopher's and St. Andrew's parochial schools, both in the Town of Tonawanda. She retired in 1997.
Before moving to the Buffalo area in the 1950s, she taught in Catholic schools on Long Island.
Mrs. Cantwell also served as a religious education teacher at St. Christopher's Parish.
Born in Italy, the former Anna D'Andrea was the widow of Lawrence F. Cantwell, who died in 1983.
She was a member of St. Christopher's Parish and the Third Order of Dominicans. She enjoyed gardening and oil painting.
Mrs. Cantwell is survived by a son, Lawrence F. l Jr. of Syracuse; a sister, Frances D'Andrea of Philadelphia; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Prayers at 9 a.m. Monday in the Amigone Funeral Home, 2600 Sheridan Drive, Town of Tonawanda, will precede a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Christopher's Catholic Church, 2660 Niagara Falls Blvd. Burial will be in St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, L.I.
