Michael P. Doherty, 81, an Army veteran and cook, died Wednesday (Dec. 22, 1999) in Schoellkopf Health Care Facility at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center after a long illness.
Born in the Bronx, he graduated from high school there and was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was a cook all his working life. He moved to Baltimore in 1978 and worked there for two years before moving to Niagara Falls.
He worked at the Georgian House of Pancakes and other restaurants in the area until retiring in 1980.
Doherty was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He enjoyed bingo and watching wrestling on television.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine; three daughters, Patricia and Michele Doherty and Barbara DiGregorio, and a stepdaughter, Theresa Guagliano; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Ave.
