WHO: Theatre of Youth
WHAT: "Voyage of the Dragonfly"
WHEN: Through Dec. 30
WHERE: Allendale Theater, 203 Allen St.
The Theater of Youth, comfy in its new splendidly restored quarters in the Allendale Theater, is in its final week of the delightful tale of magic and monsters, "The Voyage of the Dragonfly." The show is directed by Meg Quinn and stars Katie White as the wise Queen Meaghan and Christopher Kelly as the romantic Captain Taran. News reviewer Pat Donovan called the production "A complex, spectacularly mythic adventure set in a land of magic." (She gave it three-and-a-half out of four stars). Kenneth Shaw's original set and costumes add elaborate expressionistic visuals to the busy doings, and Chester Propiolkowsky's music beautifully carries the mood. It is a show so rich in effects and story that it should appeal to both children (say, 9 and older) and adults.
