Katherine O'Brien, 83, who with her husband, Joseph, was a partner with Arthur Murray in the original Arthur Murray dance studios in New York City from 1950 to 1965, died Tuesday (Dec. 21, 1999) in her home here after a long illness.

Born in New York City, she lived in Lewiston and then Youngstown for the past 15 years.

She was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Youngstown and its Altar and Rosary Society and a member of Lewiston Senior Citizens.

Her husband died in 1979.

Surviving are four sons, Joseph R. of Youngstown, John of Hunter, Christopher of Bethpage and Patrick of New York City; a sister, Josephine Selman of Ocean City, N.J.; and one grandchild.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Friday in Resurrection Ascension Catholic Church, Rego Park, New York City. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Queens.
