Here it is a few days before Christmas and we find ourselves with not one gift for our children or nieces and nephews. This is not a financial situation. We thought we would go shopping the modern way -- via the Internet. The feeling of shopping in our living room without the crowds and long lines was so appealing. But now, when most people are home wrapping and relaxing in the spirit of the holidays, we are stressing over the fact that our gifts may not make it on time.

The last e-mail I received from Toys R Us read that if I didn't receive my order by Dec. 24 to give them a call. Yikes! I have been to the toy stores and most of the things that were in stock on the Net are no longer available in the stores. This is really not a problem if we can remember the reason for the season. But I am not happy about it, as I prepare to go to the store and do my shopping the old-fashioned way.

Not all my Internet shopping ended this badly. Everything else arrived at the promised time with no problems. I am just shocked that a well-known company could allow this to happen. And I know I am not alone in my disappointment.
