Entrepreneurs who hope to start or expand businesses are encouraged to participate in a series of seminars that are being sponsored by several business advocacy groups.

The next program will be held Jan. 22 at the Erie Community College City Campus. "Straight Talk" will offer basic business tips, strategies for improving credit and insights into running home-based enterprises.

The program will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. and the $10 fee includes a continental breakfast and luncheon.

Firm does office work for small companies

A Buffalo entrepreneur has launched a home-based "virtual" assistance center that will help small business owners handle administrative tasks.

SMD Pro-Office Solutions will use the Internet and e-mail to handle everything from correspondence and travel arrangements to research projects for busy business owners.
