NUTS FOR PECANS

A favorite holiday candy:

CRUNCHY PECANS

1 cup sugar

2 egg whites

1 pound pecan halves

1/2 cup butter

Salt
Beat egg whites until stiff, beat in sugar, then fold in pecans. Melt butter in jelly roll pan and place in a 325-degree oven. Spoon the mixture over the butter. Continue to bake in the oven for 30 more minutes, stirring every 10 minutes and sprinkling lightly with salt. Let cool and store in an airtight container.
