Helen A. McDonald, 84, a retired nurse's aide, died Tuesday (Dec. 21, 1999) in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst, after a short illness.
Born Helen Dill in Buffalo, she was a graduate of Hutchinson-Central High School. She worked for 25 years as a nurse's aide at the old E.J. Meyer Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1972.
She was a past president of her local of the Civil Service Employees Association. She was noted for her positive attitude.
She was the first resident of the Claremont Senior Citizens Complex operated by the Sisters of St. Joseph.
Her husband, Oscar McDonald, died in 1963.
Surviving are two daughters, Carol Ayola of Hilliard, Fla., and Maureen Ricotta of Kenmore; a son, Donald of Chandler, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Our Lady of Peace Church, 10950 Main St., Clarence, after prayers at 8:30 in Amigone Funeral Home, 2600 Sheridan Drive, Town of Tonawanda. Burial will be in Clarence Fillmore Cemetery, Clarence.
