Donald A. Simpson, a retired Western Electric employee, died Dec. 12, 1999, in the Inn of Seneca nursing home in Seneca, S.C., after a long illness. He was 89.

Born in East Orange, N.J., he left Buffalo 10 years ago after he retired from Western Electric. While here, he was active in the Telephone Pioneers of America and numerous environmental organizations.

Simpson was predeceased by two wives, Beulah Simpson and Grace Simpson.

Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Baker of Salem, S.C., and Jane Arms of Geneva; two stepdaughters, Carol Serviss of Clarence and Sharon Higgins of Joliet, Ill.; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
