A Nevada Street man who allegedly displayed a gun when he burglarized a Northumberland Street home, police said, was arrested a short time later.

Police surrounded the house from which the suspect fled at about 7 p.m. Monday and said they found a half-ounce of crack cocaine in an infant's crib. No gun was recovered.

Jerry J. Hayes, 18, of 24 Nevada St. was charged with burglary, use of a weapon and drug charges by Officers Michael Bass and Earl Perrin Jr. of the Gang Suppression Unit.

The recovered loot included a VCR, Sony Playstation, boom box and CD player.
