A Jamestown man convicted of sexually assaulting a 9-year-old child has been sentenced to 22 years to life in prison.
William McGuay, 33, of 134 Chandler St., was sentenced Monday by Chautauqua County Court Judge John T. Ward. On Nov. 15, a jury convicted him of first-degree sodomy, first-degree course of sexual contact against a child, and unlawful use of a child in a sexual performance.
The attacks occurred between August 1998 and last January.
Chautauqua County District Attorney James P. Subjack said McGuay has three previous felony convictions dating to 1987.
He called the sentence "the most severe sentence ever handed to a persistent felon in Chautauqua County" history.
Subjack said McGuay won't be eligible for parole until 2021.
