James A. Di-Nieri II, 20, died Sunday (Dec. 19, 1999) in Erie County Medical Center, Buffalo, of injuries suffered in a car crash the day before on Swann Road.
DiNieri was the driver of a car that struck broadside a sport utility vehicle that was backing out of a driveway at about 1:50 a.m. Saturday. The impact split the sport utility vehicle in two.
DiNieri was taken to the medical center by Mercy Flight and underwent surgery for head and internal injuries.
He was born in Lewiston and graduated from Lewiston-Porter Senior High School in 1997. He entered the University at Buffalo that year but transferred to Niagara County Community College in 1998.
He played on the Lew-Port football team, was a member of the National Honor Society in high school and was a dean's list student at NCCC, where he received the President's Award for Educational Excellence.
Survivors include his father, James A. of Niagara Falls; his mother, Patricia; his stepmother, Andrea of Niagara Falls; a brother, Matthew A. Loscalzo; a stepbrother, Mario Pasquantino of Niagara Falls; a sister, Tricia Loscalzo of Victorville, Calif.; two stepsisters, Lisa Pasquantino of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Dana Toarmino of Niagara Falls; his paternal grandparents, Patrick and Patricia of Phoenix, Ariz.; and his maternal grandparents, Anthony and Amy Palumbo of Niagara Falls.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Teresa of the Infant Jesus Catholic Church, 3840 Macklem Ave., Niagara Falls. Entombment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery Mausoleum.
