Three armed robberies within a 20-minute span Monday evening led to the arrest of a Haeberle Avenue teen-ager, police said. A second suspect was still being sought.
Police Lt. Salvatore Pino said that three elderly victims reported being robbed in the mid-town area between 5:30 and 5:49 p.m. The bandits were armed with guns, knives and sticks, and one of the victims suffered a minor cut during a skirmish, police said.
Detectives Paul Pierini and John Galie arrested 17-year-old Nicholas Jenkins Jr. after a brief foot chase. Two toy guns, a knife and a stick -- all used in the robberies, according to police -- were recovered.
Jenkins was charged with two counts of second-degree robbery, second-degree assault and attempted first-degree robbery. He was being held without bail pending arraignment in Niagara Falls City Court this morning(TUE).
Detectives Patricia McCune, John Olander and Frank Coney assisted in the investigation.
