Dorothy Jane LaChance, 89, who retired as a park matron from the state Parks Commission, died Monday (Dec. 20, 1999) in Schoellkopf Health Center after a lengthy illness.
Born Dorothy McClintock in Lakeville, Minn., she moved to Niagara Falls in 1940. She also had lived on 10th Street and, at the time of her death, lived in Niagara Geriatrics Center.
Mrs. LaChance retired from the state Parks Commission after serving for 16 years.
She was a member of the Niagara Falls Golden Age Club.
Her husband, Rene A., died in 1983.
Surviving are a son, William D.; three daughters, Pamela R. Johnson and Donna Barron, both of Plano, Texas, and Marcella Sharman of Wheatfield; seven grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Otto Redanz LaSalle Park Chapel, 2215 Military Road, Town of Niagara. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Park, Amherst.
