Two teen-agers were killed when their car left the road Saturday and struck a utility pole in Madison County, according to authorities.
Both Eric S. Higgins and Aaron Rood died before the arrival of rescue workers, police said. Both teen-agers were seniors at Stockbridge Valley Central School.
A Madison County sheriff's deputy, who arrived on the scene shortly after the accident, reported that a light layer of snow covered the road and that the road surface was slick.
The impact of the collision severed the utility pole near its base and nearly split Higgins' 1976 Chevrolet in two.
Neither Higgins nor Rood was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to authorities, who said they were unable to determine who was driving at the time of the accident.
