CONGRESS ST. MAN CHARGED IN STABBING OF HIS WIFE

A Congress Street woman was being treated for five or more stab wounds, and her husband was under arrest following an attack in their home about 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

Traci Klaiber Mack, 24, was being treated in Erie County Medical Center for wounds that are not believed to be life-threatening, police said. She was still being evaluated late Sunday, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Her husband, George Mack, 22, stabbed her twice in a child's blood-splattered bedroom and after the knife broke, dragged her to the kitchen and stabbed her three more times, according to Lt. Greg Blosat of the Northwest District.

The woman's daughter, age 4, witnessed the attack, police said.

An occupant of the house helped police restrain the suspect, who was arrested by Officers John Petricca and Mary Evans.

Mack was charged with assault and possession of a weapon.
