I was touched after reading Donn Esmonde's Dec. 8 column about Lois Esthimer and the DWI victim impact panel. I was one of those who attended this program in 1991. Called incorrigible by the Probation Department, I had driven drunk for many years. Although it was a number of years before I "put down the bottle," I never drove under the influence again.
After three-and-a-half years of sobriety, and legal operation of a motor vehicle for two years, I still will never forget Esthimer and the indelible impression she left on me. Her courage was an inspiration, and still appeals to my conscience.
