Detectives are looking for a vandal who set fire to a set of U.S. Registry reference books Friday in the northeast corner of the Earl W. Brydges Library, fire officials said.
Detective Patrick Corsaro said the incident occurred at 2:22 p.m. and caused an estimated $600 damage to the books. He said the public library did not appear to be damaged.
Library officials described a possible suspect and police are trying to identify him, Corsaro said.
