The former minister of the United Methodist Church here has been arrested on charges of sexual abuse and is being held in the Cattaraugus County Jail.
William I. Wallen, 40, is charged with third-degree sexual abuse Dec. 8 involving a woman and third-degree sodomy Dec. 6 involving a person under age 17.
The second arrest developed following an investigation last week by the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Department.
Wallen was arraigned before Little Valley Town Justice Joseph Dry and is being held on $5,000 bail. He is to return to court Jan. 26.
Wallen has been relieved of his pastoral duties. He and his wife and two children reside on Court Street.
Wallen was assigned to the local Methodist church in June, succeeding the Rev. Jan Southcutt, who retired.
