John G. Meyers, 75, a retired dental supply and equipment sales representative, died Tuesday (Sept. 28, 1999) in Oakwood Health Care Facility, East Amherst, after a long illness.

The former Eggertsville resident retired in 1991 after a 47-year sales career, first with Davis Schultz and for 31 years with Buffalo Dental.

Meyers was an avid sailboat racer and sailed extensively throughout the Western Hemisphere. He was a member of the Buffalo Yacht Club since 1966 and was a past commodore of the Western New York Blue Gavel Club. He was chairman of the first Queen City Regatta in 1978 and the Highlander International Regatta in Buffalo in 1969.

At St. Andrew's Catholic Church in the Town of Tonawanda, he was active in the St. Vincent de Paul Society and youth programs and coached boys and girls basketball for many years.

He is survived by his wife, the former Eileen O'Connor; two daughters, Barbara Ahlstrom of Lockport and Janet Badame of Grand Island; a son, John G. of East Amherst; a sister, Doris Scott of Cheektowaga; and seven grandchildren.

Services will be held at 8:45 a.m. Friday in Amigone Funeral Home, 2600 Sheridan Drive, Town of Tonawanda, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in St. Andrew's Church, 1525 Sheridan Drive. Entombment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda.
