Louis A. Magnano has been named chairman of the capital campaign for Olean General Hospital's $30 million building expansion.
"I am very committed to this campaign," said Magnano, president of Blue Bird Bus Co. in Olean. "It has amazed me working on this campaign, is how much people care about the health of our hospital."
The campaign has a goal of $4 million. To date Magnano has pledged $350,000 in gifts to the hospital, including $100,000 for the Mercy Flight center and $250,000 toward the building project. Also the emergency department will be dedicated in his honor.
So far the campaign has raised $3 million, according to Karen Voorhees Fohl, president of the hospital foundation. All money will directly support the building project and additional enhancements such as refurbishing the patient medical and surgical rooms.
The project is due to be completed in the spring of 2001 and includes a 100,000 square foot wing, a larger emergency department, new surgical suites, new mental health cardiac and rehabilitation areas.
