Joseph V. Clonan, 85, of Cheektowaga, a retired Linde Corp. employee, died Monday (Sept. 27, 1999) in Beechwood Nursing Home, Getzville, after a long illness.
He was born in Renovo, Pa., where he graduated from St. Joseph High School. He had lived in the Buffalo area for 60 years and worked as an oxide service man for Linde until he retired in 1976. He also was an officer in the Chemical Workers Union local.
He was a member of Mother of Divine Grace Catholic Church in Cheektowaga and its Holy Name Society.
He and the former Jane Callaghan were married in 1935. She died in 1977.
Survivors include eight daughters, Margaret of Wilson, Jeanette Reilly of Getzville, Mary Ellen Stoddart of Erie, Pa., Noreen Kline of Steelton, Pa., Veronica Ulrich of Stuarttown, Pa., Rita Greenbush of Savannah, Ga., Catherine Smith of Lithcum, Md., and Bridget Monica of North Collins; five sons, Joseph Jr. of Fitchburg, Mass., David of Augusta, Ga., Daniel of Emporium, Pa., Patrick of Medina and Michael of Cheektowaga; 35 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9 a.m. Saturday in Mother of Divine Grace Church, 120 Maryvale Drive, after prayers at 8:30 in Amigone Funeral Home, 569 Cleveland Drive, Cheektowaga. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Cheektowaga.
