The Newstead Historical Society will hold a harvest dinner buffet beginning with a social hour at 6 p.m. Oct. 14 in the Akron Central High School cafeteria, 47 Bloomingdale Ave.
Lawrence Stock, a former social studies teacher at Akron Central School who is now retired, will present the program, "A Colonial Harvest." The presentation will include "what our forefathers grew for food, how they prepared it, and how they preserved it for the winter," spokeswoman Sue Houlihan said.
The dinner will be catered by Barbara Goodman and the Akron Central School Culinary Artists. Dinner tickets, which are available at the Bag and Barrel Country Store, 99 Main St., are $10 for adults, and $5 for children under 12. The deadline for tickets is Tuesday.
"The community is invited to this evening of fun and fellowship," Ms. Houlihan said.
