FLORIDA SAYS NO ON BIDS
TO DISPLAY ELECTRIC CHAIR

State officials have rejected offers by two Florida museums to put on public display the state's retired electric chair, the famed "Old Sparky."

The Tallahassee Antique Car Museum and the Bradford County Historical Museum both inquired about taking Old Sparky out of storage and displaying it, officials said. But they said such a display may be inappropriate.

Old Sparky, a three-legged oaken chair built by inmates to execute inmates, was used in 238 executions dating back to 1923.
