Arthur E. Evans, a retired employee of the Westinghouse Electric Co. plant and former Bell Aircraft worker, died Saturday (Sept. 25, 1999) in the Schoellkopf Health Center after a long illness.
Evans, 73, was born in Shawmut, Pa.
He served in the Navy from 1942 to 1946 as a machinist's mate first class. After his military service, Evans married the former Eva M. Olewnik in Force, Pa., and they recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
They moved to Niagara Falls in 1952, and he worked at the former Bell Aircraft in Wheatfield for five years, including two years as a foreman for two years. He also worked on the Niagara Power Project before starting work at the former Westinghouse Electric Co. Plant in Cheektowaga.
He retired in 1985 after 22 years with Westinghouse.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Larry J. and Wayne S.; a daughter, Pamela; two sisters, Armine Piccirillo of Ridgway, Pa., and Alice Ellman of Okeechobee, Fla.; and a grandson.
Funeral services will be private.
