The Detroit Pistons have signed free agent guard Pooh Richardson, who spent the past five seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers.
The Clippers bought out the remainder of Richardson's contract in September.
Richardson entered the NBA in 1989 after being drafted in the first round -- 10th overall -- by the Minnesota Timberwolves. After three years in Minnesota, Richardson played for the Indiana Pacers for two seasons. He was acquired by the Clippers in a 1994 trade.
Richardson has a career average of 11.1 points and 6.5 assists in 639 games. He was hampered by an ankle injury last season.
In other NBA news, the Philadelphia 76ers re-signed reserve guard Doug Overton on Monday. Overton, a seven-year veteran from La Salle, averaged 1.0 points and 3.7 minutes over 10 games last season after being signed by the Sixers in March.
