AMHERST BURGLARIES NET $15,000 IN CASH, JEWELRY

Amherst police were searching for a burglar who they believe looted three homes and may have made off with as much as $15,000 in cash and jewelry.

The owners of a home in the first block of Daven Drive reported that someone broke into their home through a rear window between 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Friday. The intruders took cash, a gold necklace, a diamond tennis bracelet, a raccoon jacket and other items totaling $10,800, police said.

Another home was broken into about the same time on the 400 block of Rambling Road. The burglar made off with $3,500 in cash and jewelry.

The third home was on the 300 block of Rambling Road. The burglar took cash, diamond rings and other items of unknown value. The burglar also attempted to break into another home on that block.
