1ST U.S. WOMAN DOCTOR TO BE FOCUS AT DINNER

Dr. Elizabeth Blackwell, the first woman to graduate from an American medical school, will be the focus a presentation at the Boston Historical Society's annual dinner Oct. 5.

Denise Reichard will give a costumed re-enactment of Blackwell's life. Blackwell graduated from Geneva (N.Y.) Medical School in 1849 and went on to found clinics and a medical school for women in New York City.

The event starts with hors d'oeuvres at 6 p.m., followed by a potluck. For more information, call 941-6525.
