Marie Detschner, 88, of Transit Road, who owned and operated the family farm on Hess Road for 50 years, died Friday (Sept. 24, 1999) in her home.

A native of North Tonawanda, the former Marie Meyers had lived in the Town of Newfane since 1959. She operated the farm until 10 years ago.

She was a member of the Hess Road Wesleyan Church.

Her husband, Richard O., died in 1985.

Survivors include three sons, David of Lockport, Dale of Appleton, and Denis of Barker; three daughters, Thea Russell of Burt, Leni Strong of Appleton, and Susan Koch of Lockport; 12 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted at 9 p.m. Sunday in the Kenneth H. Sherrie Funeral Home, 613 9 East Ave.
