Robert Blakelock, a retired employee of the Niagara Falls School Board, died Tuesday (Sept. 21, 1999) in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center after a brief illness.
Blakelock, 85, lived in Wheatfield Towers for 18 years and in Northgate Manor Nursing Home in Wheatfield for the last three months.
He was born in Niagara Falls and had lived most of his life in Niagara Falls. He lived in West Palm Beach, Fla., for seven years when he was a teen-ager.
Blakelock worked as the head of the shipping department for Jenss department store for 23 years and then worked in the grounds department of the Niagara Falls School Board for 18 years, retiring in 1976.
His wife, Gertrude Schwenkbeck Blakelock, died in 1997.
He is survived by two sons, William D. of the Town of Niagara and Kent D. of Sanborn; a sister, Ruth Bromhall of Salisbury, Md.; a stepsister, Dorothy Jagow; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
