Mary M. Locke, a former social worker, died Tuesday (Sept. 21, 1999) at her Buffalo home after a 10-year battle with cancer. She was 50.
A Buffalo native, the former Mary Marso was a graduate of Oxford Academy and a graduate of Brockport State College with a bachelor of arts degree in English.
Mrs. Locke was a social worker for Child Protective Services in Albany County from 1971 to 1974.
She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and an active volunteer with the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association and Mount St. Joseph's Academy Parents Guild.
She enjoyed gardening and recently planned and completed an English garden next to her office at her home. She also enjoyed collecting antiques and "Muffy" teddy bears.
Survivors include her husband, James; a daughter, Katherine; a son, Timothy; her mother, Patricia Marso of Oxford; four sisters, Patricia Ford of McDonough, Susan Hoke of Oxford, Anne Baltz of Silver Spring, Md., and Kathleen Potter of Richmond, Va.; three brothers, Michael Marso of Earlville, Lawrence Marceau of Newark, Del., and Robert Marso of Tacoma Park, Md.; and her maternal grandmother, Harriet Connolly of Oxford.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Friday in Blessed Sacrament Church, 1029 Delaware Ave., after prayers at 10:15 in Amigone Funeral Home, 1132 Delaware Ave. Burial will be in Forest Lawn.
