The Holland Town Board is again considering spearheading the start of a Meals-on-Wheels program in town, with the hopes of expanding the service to include the adjoining towns of Colden, Wales and Sardinia.

Town supervisor Gordon Hessel Jr. said that the county Department of Senior Services is prepared to conduct an "assessment needs survey" to determine how many senior citizens would avail themselves to the one hot and one cold meal five days a week.

Meals on Wheels of Erie County also provides diet meals, kosher meals, and weekend emergency meals to qualified residents. "It is my goal to have Holland serve as a nucleus for the four (rural) towns" comprising southeastern Erie County, Hessel said. He compared his proposal to what Meals on Wheels is doing in East Aurora where it serves South Wales and the Towns of Aurora, Elma, Marilla and the village of East Aurora.
