EX-TEACHER PLEADS INNOCENT

A former elementary teacher Wednesday pleaded innocent in Salamanca City Court to a charge of endangering the welfare of a 12-year-old girl.

Michael E. DePonceau, 36, of Wildwood Avenue was arraigned and pleaded innocent to endangering the welfare of a child. The alleged incident occurred July 1 at his home.

The charge resulted from a complaint filed by the child's parents, who said he inappropriately kissed her on the mouth.

DePonceau remains free on $500 bail and will be back in court Oct. 6 for a pretrial hearing. He was hired last summer to teach sixth grade at Gail N. Chapman Elementary School in Randolph.
