The man who filled theaters for "The Ten Commandments" and "Ben Hur" couldn't draw enough of a crowd to hear his views on gun control and the nation's cultural decline.

Charlton Heston, president of the National Rifle Association, canceled a Wednesday appearance in Akron because only $15,000 worth of tickets had been sold at prices ranging from $150 to $2,500.
