I was disappointed after reading the Sept. 11 Buffalo News article about the Doyle family in Kenmore and how the repeated power outages are life-threatening to Doris Doyle.
The family came up with the idea of buying a generator for emergency situations. Because her 74-year-old husband isn't able to start a generator himself, the family requested that firefighters come to their home and start it in the event of a prolonged power outage.
I really feel Kenmore Mayor John Beaumont's response was a big cop-out. I have no respect for a leader who feels someone's life is "not a municipal problem."
Someone's life is everyone's problem. We all need to start caring and loving our neighbors as ourselves.
