Some students are refusing to answer questions about the theory of evolution and the origin of life on state tests because of their religious beliefs. And the protest is putting a monkey wrench in their grades.
In a biology class at South Glens Falls High School, some students every year refuse to answer questions about evolution on the state Regents tests. They say the theory of science violates the beliefs of their faith.
"It just affects their grade," biology teacher Susan Moore-Palumbo told the Glens Falls Post-Star.
"Obviously, they're free to believe whatever they want to believe," said Tom Shiland, a science teacher at Saratoga Springs High School. "We test them on what we believe the scientific record shows."
