HAMBURG TOWN BOARD OKS CONTRACT FOR WADING POOL

Toddlers will be splashing in a new wading pool at the Hamburg Village Pool next summer.

The new pool will be built as a joint venture involving the village, Town of Hamburg and the town's Community Development Office.

The Town Board Monday approved the low bid of Fisher Development and General Contracting of $94,666. The pool will be funded with federal community development block grant funds.

Village crews will demolish the existing pool. The new octagon-shaped pool with a fountain will be about 30 percent larger, said Thomas J. Moses, village recreation supervisor.

"Back in 1980, the Village Board was looking at filling in this complex because it wasn't self-sustaining," he said.

He said the village will contribute about $12,000 for architectural services.
