The city will offer a tire amnesty day from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 2 in the City Hall parking lot.
City residents may bring up to four tires, with or without rims, for free disposal. They may bring up to five more tires and drop them off for $1 each.
Only car and light truck tires will be accepted, and only city residents may participate. Huron Recycling Co. will provide the truck to haul the tires away.
State Sen. George D. Maziarz, R-North Tonawanda, and Assemblyman David E. Seaman, R-Lockport, provided a state grant to pay for the event, the second one this year in the city.
