The United Way of Niagara raised $177,718 during the first week of its eight-week campaign, according to campaign chairman James Strassburg.
The first week's donations and pledges amount to 13 percent of the United Way's goal of $1.3 million.
Donations to the United Way benefit 19 member agencies that provide more than 50 specialized programs and services in the Niagara Falls area. There are separate United Way organizations in the Lockport area and the Tonawandas.
The United Way of Niagara's campaign concludes with a luncheon Nov. 5.
