NANCY J. LUCAS

Buffalo native Nancy J. Lucas, who moved to California in the early 1960s, died Aug. 29, 1999, at her home in Sunnyvale, Calif., after a 20-year battle with heart disease. She was 64.

A 1954 graduate of Bennett High School, the former Nancy McCoy worked with the Bell Aircraft Rocket Group for several years before she married Peter Lucas in 1957 and moved to California a few years later.

She loved working with children as a teacher's aide, Girl Scout leader, room mother and assisting with Boy Scout activities. She also loved gardening, decorating and preparing for holidays and family gatherings.

She worked with others who were battling heart disease.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Sharon Mathies and Susan Ruiz, and a son, Peter Jr., all of California; a sister, Jean E. Kelley of Sanborn; a brother, William E. McCoy of the Town of Tonawanda; and three grandchildren.

Services were held in Presbyterian Church of Sunnyvale. Interment was in Alta Mesa Memorial Park, Palo Alto, Calif.
