A Fredonia man who allegedly threw a beer bottle at his wife, striking his 10-year-old daughter instead was in the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of bail Sunday, Chautauqua County sheriff's deputies said.
Joseph D. Cettell Sr., 32, of West Main Road in Fredonia, was involved in a dispute with his wife about 9:40 p.m. Saturday when he allegedly threw the bottle, striking his daughter in the back, then grabbed a large kitchen knife and threatened to kill his wife, deputies said. The daughter was taken to Brooks Hospital in Dunkirk for treatment.
A warrant was obtained for Cettell's arrest, and deputies apprehended him without incident, the sheriff's department said. Cettell was arraigned in Pomfet Town Court and remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash or $2,000 property bond.
