Nellie Brach of Orchard Park died Friday (Sept. 10, 1999) after a long illness. She was 76.
A native of Rochester, the former Nellie Massau attended Mercy High School and earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Rochester. She operated her own business until moving to Buffalo in 1948, and did accounting work for her husband's business for many years.
Mrs. Brach was a member of St. George's Parish and its Altar & Rosary Society, Church Council and many fund-raisers.
She was a committed community volunteer, serving as a leader in the Girl Scouts, and was a Marian Award mentor. She also participated in fund-raising for such organizations as the American Heart Association and American Cancer Society.
She enjoyed traveling, gardening, bird watching, gourmet cooking and rug hooking.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, John W. Brach; four daughters, Joan Rogers of Troy, Nancy Rogers of Coppell, Texas, Frances Bergstrom of Ithaca and Dorothy Greiner of Orchard Park; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in St. George's Catholic Church, Old Glenwood Road, Jewettville. Burial will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Rochester.
