A memorial service for John V. Kitta, 74, a World War II veteran and former security guard captain, will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday in St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 1182 Seneca St. Burial will be at St. Matthew's Cemetery, West Seneca.
Kitta, a lifelong Western New Yorker who lived in West Seneca, died Friday (Sept. 10, 1999) in Buffalo General Hospital after a long illness.
He graduated from South Park High School and attended classes at the University at Buffalo.
During World War II, he served in the Navy.
After the war, he operated a furniture store and then took a job with Globe Security, where he worked as a guard and then as a supervisory captain.
He was a longtime member of St. Matthew's, where he served as a vestryman and lay reader.
Survivors include a sister, Betty B. Wilson of Pueblo, Colo., and a brother, Eugene Breckon of Silver Creek.
