Se Ri Pak overcame wind, cold and a double bogey to shoot a 5-under-par 67 for a two-stroke lead after the first round of the World Championship of Women's Golf in Maple Grove, Minn.

Laura Davies of England shot a 69 and Meg Mallon and Canadian Lorie Kane each had 70s.

Pak said she didn't know what to expect from her game in the strong winds, and said she kept checking the sky for snow.

But Pak, a South Korean in her second year on the LPGA Tour, is hoping for similar weather for the tournament's next three rounds.

"I want it to be just like today," she said. "Sunday, I can get the trophy, then I'll be pretty happy and I can go home."

Two-time defending champion Juli Inkster shot a 74.
