POLICE SHOULD TAPE-RECORD
THEIR DEALINGS WITH PUBLIC

I have read with interest the various positions and opinions concerning the intervention by Erie County Legislature Majority Leader Crystal Peoples during a domestic dispute.

Her account of the event differs radically from the police account of the same event. There are strong emotional stands for both of these differing accounts. Another recent event involving a drug raid at a residential address produced the same type of conflicting perspective.

These classic "he said/she said" cases could be resolved by the installation and use of video camera recorders (with portable microphones) in police vehicles. The cost of these devices is warranted and would certainly aid in making both the police and the public accountable for their actions. I can only imagine the "instant replay" of these and other events.
