ONE DRIVER SERIOUSLY HURT IN FOUR-TRUCK ACCIDENT

A dump truck driver was seriously injured at 5:19 p.m. Wednesday in a four-truck accident in front of 8728 Rochester Road, Sheriff's Deputy Leonard E. Guagliano said.

The injured man, whom deputies identified as Steven Lackner, was listed in serious condition in Erie County Medical Center's intensive care unit in Buffalo with head injuries, a hospital official said. He was flown to the hospital by Mercy Flight, Guagliano said.

As a BFI garbage truck was westbound on Rochester Road and a dump truck operated by the victim pulled into the roadway, the BFI driver attempted to avoid a collision by swerving but could not avoid the dump truck, and the impact ejected the dump truck driver, Guagliano said.

The garbage truck continued on and struck two parked dump trucks. The accident is under investigation.
